Novice Introduction to The Basic Concepts of The Landing Page That Works
What is the landing page?
The landing page is the page with a single defined desired action.
This action can be:
- sign up for the newsletter,
- order a product,
- fill a form (etc.)
It's called a landing page because you optimize your other funnels to "land" traffic there.
Because of the laser focus of your landing page (single goal and a single call to action (CTA) the conversion of it is much higher than your normal blog/site.
That's why the landing pages are an enormously powerful marketing tool.
Let's break down the first sentence first.
What is a call to action?
CTA is an "action button" that allows your visitors to perform the preferred action.
Usually, it's a
- "BUY NOW"
- "GET IT"
The whole page has a single goal (unlike a normal blog) and a single CTA used 1-3 times.
What is the conversion rate?
It tells you about the % of people who performed the desired action from all people who visited the site.
Example: You want to get an email sign up.
350 ppl visit your page.
16 of them signed up.
Converion rate = 16/350 = 0,045 or 4,5%.
What is a good conversion rate?
This really depends on the type of your call to action (order/sign up) and the niche you're in.
But sth like 5%+ for order pages and 15%+ for email sign-ups is in my experience very good.
Note. It also depends on what kind of traffic you get.
